Prachanda Not Recommended From Gorkha-2 for Nepal Election

Nepal Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has not been included in the party’s recommendation list from Gorkha-2 for the upcoming House of Representatives election.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has not been recommended as a candidate from Gorkha-2 for the upcoming House of Representatives election.

Dahal was elected from Gorkha-2 in the 2022 general election with the support of an alliance with the Nepali Congress. This time, however, the party has left his name out of the recommendation list for the constituency.

According to the NCP’s Gorkha district committee, Narayankaji Shrestha, Hitraj Pandey, Lekhnath Neupane, Sanumaya Basnet, and Anish Aryal have been recommended from Gorkha-2. Dahal has instead been recommended from Gorkha-1, though not as the sole candidate.

The list from Gorkha-1 also includes Hariraj Adhikari, Jagannath Khanal, Shobha Lamichhane, and Sagar Shrestha. It remains unclear from which constituency Dahal will contest the election. His name has also been recommended from other districts, including Kaski and Sunsari.

The NCP’s Gorkha committee finalized and submitted the candidate recommendations on Wednesday.
