Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and former Prime Minister, will deliver his final public address before the upcoming elections from Rolpa district.
Raj Bahadur Budha, the party’s Rolpa in-charge, said Prachanda will make a public appeal to voters at a mass gathering scheduled for Saturday at Tundikhel in Libang, the district headquarters.
According to Prachanda’s secretariat, no other major programs are planned across the country before the elections. He will issue his final election message from Rolpa through the public address.
Grand Preparations and Leaders’ Participation
Budha said the party has made extensive preparations to organize the event on a grand scale. Around 15,000 people are expected to attend the program in person in Libang.
“The fact that Prachanda, the coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal and a leading figure of Nepal’s revolutionary movement, is delivering his election address from Rolpa is meaningful in itself,” Budha said. “We understand that choosing Rolpa at this decisive moment also reflects his respect for the people of Rolpa.”
Prachanda spent much of the period of the ‘People’s War’ in Rolpa, which is widely regarded as a key district during the insurgency. In addition to Prachanda, Barshaman Pun, the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives from Rolpa, will also address the rally.
Organizers said senior party leaders, including former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and former Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar, along with other central leaders, will attend the event.
Party Unification and Election Strategy
On Kartik 19 , eight political parties unified to formally announce the formation of the CPN. Since then, more than 20 additional parties and groups have joined the party.
Following the unification, Prachanda serves as coordinator, while Madhav Kumar Nepal is co-coordinator. The CPN has already organized unity message gatherings in all seven provinces.
For this election, the party said it has prioritized mobilizing its organizational network and reaching voters directly at their homes rather than relying solely on high-profile appearances by top leaders.
