Oli Says Forces Are Working to Weaken UML Amid Nepal’s Geopolitical Pressure

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has accused certain forces of working to weaken the UML, warning that Nepal is facing growing geopolitical competition and internal manipulation.

Chairperson of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said that certain forces are being mobilized against the country and are attempting to weaken the UML in order to elevate themselves. Issuing a circular to party committees operating under the decisions of the Secretariat and the Central Committee, Chairperson Oli urged party cadres to take these realities to the people by reaching out to households.

He stated that Nepal has come under the grip of geopolitical competition.

Claims of Geopolitical Conspiracy and Youth Manipulation

“Our party is a leading political force that has played a leadership role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, self-respect, and national interest. This party is also the one that laid the foundation for the country’s strategic development.

Under the concept of a welfare state, it is the CPN-UML that implemented social security programs in practice, reinforcing the belief that the state stands with its weaker citizens. Despite this, the most intense attacks and encirclement are being directed against our party and leadership.

Why is this so? Can the countless works we have done in the past be compared with what other political parties in Nepal have accomplished? They cannot. Yet why is this happening? The answer is clear—there is a belief at work that by weakening us, Nepal can be turned into a playground for geopolitical conflict.

Weak and mobilized forces within the country are also active against us, attempting to rise by weakening us. Carrying these realities, we must now reach the doorsteps of the people,” he said.

Oli said that the restraint, patience, and initiatives shown by the entire party rank amid the uneasy and abnormal situation that arose following the destructive incidents of Bhadau 23 and 24 were commendable.

He further claimed that there is a clear attempt to weaken the Nepali state, the Constitution of Nepal, democracy, and major political parties, and to turn Nepal into a playground for geopolitical conflict by exploiting the emotions of young people and hijacking their movements.

“Our party respects the sentiments and expectations of the new generation that has grown alongside information and technology. However, we oppose any attempt to mislead them and push them in the wrong direction in the name of a ‘Gen Z rebellion,’” he said.
