Kathmandu — Nepali Congress spokesperson Devaraj Chalise has urged citizens to entrust the country’s future to reliable leadership, warning that decisions driven by emotion or provocation could push Nepal toward instability.
Speaking at a public program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Chalise said the nation should not be treated as a political experiment. He stressed that the responsibility of governing the country must be handed over to trustworthy individuals and a dependable political party.
Party Renewal and New Leadership
Rejecting claims that political parties become outdated, Chalise said institutions do not grow old, but individuals may. He stated that Nepali Congress is moving forward with new leadership, updated principles, and revised policies.
He said the party has fielded new candidates in 106 out of the country’s 165 constituencies, describing this as a reflection of organizational renewal and reform.
Call for Responsible and Thoughtful Decision-Making
Chalise urged voters not to act on impulse, emphasizing that the current political moment requires careful and responsible decision-making. He said the country cannot be treated like a product to be tested or changed based on temporary preferences.
Warning of serious consequences, he said that failing to entrust the nation to credible leadership could lead to disorder and push the country toward becoming a political testing ground. Decisions based on suspicion or emotional dissatisfaction, he added, could endanger the nation’s future.
Chalise said this is a time for citizens to demonstrate responsibility and commitment to the country. He stressed the need for restraint, wisdom, and thoughtful judgment, adding that the Nepali Congress is moving forward with the objective of establishing a system that empowers citizens as the ultimate authority.
