Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwo Prakash Sharma said on Tuesday that the party is prepared to present its prime ministerial candidate for an open public debate, including at Kathmandu’s Tundikhel, if required.
Speaking at a programme held in Mid-Baneshwor, Sharma said the Nepali Congress is confident in the leadership credentials of its proposed prime ministerial candidate, party president Gagan Thapa, citing his experience, energy, composure and long-term vision.
“Whether evaluating someone for the role of prime minister or even a ward chair, factors such as background, values, qualifications, contributions and vision are always examined,” Sharma said. “If the media and the public want a debate, we are fully ready to send our prime ministerial candidate to stand at Tundikhel and engage in discussion with other candidates.”
Sharma said Thapa brings a combination of political experience, enthusiasm, restraint and patience, along with a clear vision for national leadership. He also claimed that the Nepali Congress has fielded its own candidates in all 165 electoral constituencies across the country.
