Nepali Congress Delays Central Working Committee Meeting by Two Hours

The Nepali Congress has postponed its Central Working Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning by two hours, amid ongoing discussions on National Assembly elections and inter-party coordination.

Nepali Congress has postponed its Central Working Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning by two hours, party officials said. The meeting, originally set for 11:00 am, will now begin at 1:00 pm, according to a notice issued by the party’s central office chief secretary, Krishna Prasad Poudel.

Discussions have been ongoing since Sunday within the Central Working Committee, focusing on the selection of candidates for the National Assembly election, the possibility of holding a special general convention, and other key political and organizational matters.

Although the meeting had been planned for Tuesday morning, it was rescheduled to the afternoon, the notice said. During Monday’s session, acting party president Purna Bahadur Khadka briefed committee members on ongoing talks regarding electoral cooperation for the upcoming National Assembly election.

He said discussions were underway on possible coordination with CPN-UML, Nepal Communist Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal. Khadka emphasized that political forces involved in drafting and safeguarding the Constitution should work together, adding that preparations were underway for cooperation among the four parties.

According to the election schedule, candidate nominations for the National Assembly member election are set to be filed on Wednesday. Discussions are continuing among the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepal Communist Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal regarding possible electoral coordination.
