Nepal Ready for February 21 House of Representatives Elections: Communications Minister

Nepal’s Communications and Information Technology Minister Jagdish Kharel has said that a conducive environment has been created for the February 21 House of Representatives elections after consultations with political parties and youth representatives.

Nepal’s Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has said the country is now prepared to hold the House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 21, following an all-party meeting that also included representatives of Generation Z.

Speaking at the opening of an interaction program jointly organized by the Ministry of Communications and the Nepal Journalists’ Federation, Gandaki Province, Minister Kharel—who is also the government spokesperson—said the election process has been secured due to the government’s firm commitment, the Election Commission’s preparations, and the active involvement of political parties.

He said the overall environment for the elections is in place and appealed to all concerned sides to support the government in ensuring the polls are held on the announced date.

Minister Kharel also referred to growing public scrutiny of the mass media, noting that journalists play a key role in keeping citizens informed. He urged media professionals to work with a positive mindset and to deliver news that is impartial, factual, credible, and objective.
