National Security Council Begins Meeting on Election Security Plans

The National Security Council has convened in Singha Durbar to discuss security strategies ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

A meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) has begun to discuss security plans focused on the upcoming election. According to sources, the meeting is being held on Monday morning at the council’s office in Singha Durbar.

The meeting is focused on discussions regarding security preparations and strategies for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. Sources said the council is deliberating on comprehensive security measures for the election.

The government is also preparing to deploy the Nepal Army nearly one month before the election. As part of its strategy, the government plans to mobilize the army starting from Magh 21. Earlier, a meeting of the National Security Council was also held on Mangsir 4. Following that meeting, preliminary security plans had been prepared.

The current meeting of the council is being chaired by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. Participants in the meeting include Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal, Foreign Minister Balananda Sharma, the Defense Minister, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, Chief of the Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, and Defense Secretary Kedarnath Sharma.

Following this meeting, the government is also preparing to hold its regular Cabinet meeting later on Monday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
