Chitwan — Traffic has resumed on the Narayangadh–Muglin highway after more than 100 hours of repeated blockages caused by landslides in the past week. Vehicles have been moving without interruption since late Thursday night, following clearance efforts at the Tuin Khola section.
Highway Back in Operation After Repeated Closures
The busy road link had remained closed several times since last Friday due to recurring landslides at Tuin Khola. According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of the Chitwan Division Road Office, two-way traffic was restored at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday after debris was removed.
Lamichhane said the immediate threat had eased. “Small landslides may still occur, but they can be cleared quickly. For now, the highway looks safe. Still, we urge travelers to move with caution,” he noted.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal confirmed that all stranded vehicles were allowed to continue their journey overnight. He praised the clearance teams, saying the work was completed faster than expected despite the scale of the landslide.
Aryal added that all highways passing through Chitwan are now open, giving relief to passengers after days of travel delays.
