Man Observing Mourning Ritual Walks to Polling Center to Vote in Dang During Nepal Election

Shambhu Regmi of Tulsipur in Dang walked with his wife and disabled sister from Padhdha village to a polling center in Gaurigaun to vote during Nepal’s election while observing mourning rituals after his father’s death.

A man observing mourning rituals following the death of his father cast his vote in Dang district during Nepal’s ongoing election. Shambhu Regmi, a resident of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-10, walked to a polling center with his family to participate in the voting process.

Regmi reached the polling center located at the ward office in Gaurigaun after walking from Padhdha village with his wife Bimala KC and his sister Anita Regmi, who has a disability. He said it took about half an hour to reach the polling station on foot.

“I went to vote to end disorder in the country and to support a path toward national progress and a better future,” Regmi said. “My wife and my sister with a disability also walked from Padhdha village to Gaurigaun to cast their votes and returned home.”

Regmi’s father, Ganesh Regmi, died seven days ago. He also said his brother, who works in Saudi Arabia, could not return home because he was unable to obtain leave from work.

Shambhu Regmi previously worked as a personal aide to Dhan Bahadur Maski, a candidate from Dang Constituency-3 of the Nepal Communist Party, when Maski served as finance minister of Lumbini Province after being elected from the CPN (Maoist Centre).
