Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has emphasized the national significance of the Kimathanka border point. Highlighting that the border can be operational throughout the year, he noted that the government has given it special priority. Speaking at the inauguration of the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Office in Chainpur, Sankhuwasabha, Minister Khadka mentioned that the Chinese government has also shown particular interest in the Kimathanka border.
Minister Khadka expressed confidence that with the development of road networks, the Kimathanka border will soon be fully operational. “This border will play a vital role in strengthening trilateral relations between Nepal, China, and India,” he stated.
He also pointed out that several large hydropower projects with Indian investment are already running in the district. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining balanced and harmonious relations with both neighboring countries, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to this goal.
Through the Chainpur Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project, the government aims to increase agricultural productivity by ensuring the sustainable use of water resources. The project will work across technical, managerial, and social aspects in Sankhuwasabha and three other districts, the minister added.
“Despite adequate resources and facilities, Sankhuwasabha has lagged behind,” Khadka said. “Now, budgets have been allocated according to the needs and demands of the people.” He claimed that the ministry has completed 80 percent of its work in the energy sector and stated that future efforts will focus on development and prosperity.
