Kathmandu Metropolitan City Budget 2082/83 Set at NPR 25.11 Billion

Metropolitan City is set to unveil its NPR 25.11 billion budget for fiscal year 2082/83, with a major focus on infrastructure and social development, under Mayor Balendra Shah’s leadership.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to unveil its budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83. Under the leadership of Mayor Balendra Shah, the executive committee met on Friday and decided to present the policy and budget in the municipal assembly meeting scheduled for Sunday. The assembly session will begin today at 2 PM at the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office.

Before this, the city’s Revenue Advisory Committee resolved to allocate additional funds for infrastructure development. The committee set the total budget ceiling for the fiscal year at NPR 25.11 billion. Of the proposed budget for FY 2082/83, 51 percent is earmarked for infrastructure development, 20 percent for social development, 12 percent for good governance and related sectors, 14 percent for office operations and administration, and 3 percent for economic development.

Through this budget, Kathmandu Metropolitan City prioritizes multiple development areas and aims to provide financial resources for the next year’s plans. The budget presentation is expected to bring greater clarity to the city’s financial management and development strategies.
