Kathmandu — Kathmandu Metropolitan City has approved financial assistance for Kirtipur Hospital to procure essential medical equipment as part of efforts to improve healthcare quality and service delivery.
The support was formalized through an agreement signed under the metropolitan city’s annual program for the current fiscal year. The agreement was concluded in the presence of Acting Chief Sunita Dangol, Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain, and Education and Health Committee Coordinator Chinikaji Maharjan.
On behalf of the metropolitan city, Health Department Chief Deepak Kumar KC signed the agreement, while Dr. Bharat Kumar Pradhan Shrestha, chairperson of Kirtipur Hospital, signed on behalf of the hospital.
Under the agreement, the metropolitan city has allocated Rs 10 million for the procurement of medical equipment through the public procurement process. The hospital will purchase one anesthesia machine, one 250 kVA generator, and one 500 mA digital X-ray machine to strengthen its treatment services.
According to the metropolitan city, the assistance is intended to ensure that Kathmandu residents and patients seeking treatment at Kirtipur Hospital receive quality, accessible, and efficient healthcare services. Acting Chief Sunita Dangol said the grant aims to enhance hospital capacity, particularly for burn treatment services, which require specialized and reliable medical equipment.
Hospital Chairperson Dr. Pradhan Shrestha stated that the hospital operates on a service-oriented basis rather than for profit. He noted that treating burn patients is complex and resource-intensive, and emphasized the need for continued institutional support to improve patient care.
With the planned addition of modern medical equipment, Kirtipur Hospital is expected to enhance its ability to provide timely and quality healthcare services.
