Kathmandu Metropolitan Proposes Rs 25.11B Budget for FY 2082/83

Metropolitan City has proposed a Rs 25.11 billion budget for fiscal year 2082/83. The budget focuses on infrastructure development, with allocations also planned for education, health, and social sectors.

Kathmandu – Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is preparing to propose a budget exceeding Rs 25 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83. In its latest session, the Revenue Estimation and Budget Ceiling Determination Committee outlined a financial framework totaling Rs 25.11 billion (Rs 25,11,43,00,000) in projected income and expenditure.

According to KMC Deputy Spokesperson Dhruba Kafle, the budget structure will prioritize physical infrastructure development. Approximately 51 percent of the total budget is proposed for investment in infrastructure-related projects.

About 20 percent of the budget has been recommended for sectors including education, health, and social services. The remaining funds will be allocated to various other areas.Sources indicate that the budget formulation process aims to enhance internal revenue and ensure transparency in expenditure.

With a strong focus on reinforcing development infrastructure at the local level, the proposed budget is also expected to bring positive impact to key public sectors such as education and health.
