The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has submitted its proportional representation closed list to the Election Commission, showing that Jhapa district has the highest number of representatives, while 21 districts have no representation at all.
Party chair KP Sharma Oli, who is from Jhapa, is among the 26 members of the party’s central committee representing the district. According to party records, Oli’s own electoral constituency, Jhapa–5, alone accounts for representation of 14 individuals, including an Election Commission member.
Based on the closed list submitted on Poush 14, nine candidates from Jhapa have been included under the proportional representation category. Kathmandu and Dhanusha follow Jhapa, with seven representatives each. The list includes candidates from both districts under the proportional system.
Palpa, Kailali, and Chitwan each have four representatives. Dhading, Kavrepalanchok, Dang, Siraha, and Rautahat are represented by three candidates each. Several other districts have two or one representatives on the list.
According to the submitted document, 21 districts have no candidates included in the proportional representation list. These districts are Taplejung, Tehrathum, Okhaldhunga, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Manang, Baglung, Nawalpur (Nawalparasi East), Rupandehi, Salyan, Rukum West, Dailekh, Dolpa, Jumla, Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, and Baitadi.
The list shows a total of 56 proportional representatives and has been registered with the Election Commission. According to the party, Mina Baramu, whose name appears on the list, represents Gorkha district. She was elected as a representative from Gorkha during the party’s 11th general convention and had previously contested as a candidate for vice-chair of Aarughat Rural Municipality.
