Humla Youth Missing in Kathmandu for 11 Days After Gen-Z Protest

A 24-year-old man from Humla has been missing in Kathmandu for 11 days after joining the Gen-Z protest. His family and community have appealed to the government for urgent help.

Kathmandu _ A young man from Humla has gone missing in Kathmandu after taking part in the recent Gen-Z demonstrations. Thukten Palwar Tamang, 24, a permanent resident of Khagalgaun in Namkha Rural Municipality–3, has not been seen since September 9 (Bhadra 24). His family says he disappeared after joining the youth-led protests in the capital.

Family’s Account and Search Efforts

According to his father, Tasi Chiring, Thukten had attended a protest on September 8 and returned to his rented room that evening. The next day, after finishing his morning shift at the hotel where he worked, he left again around 2 p.m. to join the demonstrations. He never came back.

“We have searched across Kathmandu for 11 days, but there has been no trace of him,” his father said with concern. Thukten is the younger of his two sons.

Community Involvement and Calls for Action

The Namkhyom Humla Buddhist Society has also raised concern about his disappearance. Chairperson Ang Bahadur Lama said the group submitted a memorandum to Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising on Wednesday, urging the government to take action in the search.

Before moving to Kathmandu, Tamang had completed monastic studies at Narayanthan Monastery. He was living in Teenchuli with his nephew and working at a local hotel.

Both the family and the society have appealed to authorities, the public, and the media for support. They have called on the government to act swiftly to ensure his safe return.
