Khagaraj Adhikari Says UML Will Correct Itself from the Top After Election Setback

CPN-UML Secretary Khagaraj Adhikari says the party will correct itself from the top leadership after the unexpected election results, emphasizing respect for the people’s verdict and unbiased evaluation.

Kathmandu — CPN-UML Secretary Khagaraj Adhikari has said the party will correct itself from the leadership level following the party’s unexpected performance in the recent election results.

The statement comes as discussions have intensified within the party after the election outcome, with some leaders arguing that party chair KP Sharma Oli should take responsibility and step down from his position.

At the same time, several leaders have said responsibility for the result should not be placed on the party chair alone, stating that the entire party structure and committees should also take accountability.

Amid the ongoing debate, Secretary Adhikari, who is considered close to Oli, said the party would address the issue from the top leadership level. In a message posted on social media, Adhikari said the party respects the verdict of the people and will work to improve itself.

“People are sovereign. We will correct ourselves from the top. We will not act with a spirit of revenge. We will rise again,” he wrote. Adhikari also said that evaluation of the election results should be carried out without prejudice, adding that biased analysis would not lead to the correct conclusions.
