Kathmandu — Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said Nepal Telecom has played a vital role in expanding nationwide communication access and contributing to Nepal’s economic development.

Speaking at a ceremony marking Nepal Telecom’s 22nd anniversary, Minister Aryal highlighted the company’s critical contribution during national emergencies, including natural disasters, earthquakes, and public health crises. He said uninterrupted communication services during such periods are essential, noting that Nepal Telecom has consistently fulfilled that responsibility.

Digital Expansion and Service Quality

The home minister said the company’s efforts go beyond service expansion, citing its contributions to digital services, digital literacy, and broader national development. Telecommunications, he added, have evolved from a basic means of communication into a key infrastructure supporting education, economic activity, and social progress.

Aryal emphasized the need to deliver high-quality services based on modern technology. “Providing services developed on new technologies while maintaining a balance between public responsibility and innovation is a necessity of the time,” he said, adding that access to quality service is a fundamental right of consumers.

Customer Satisfaction and Government Commitment

He stressed that customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of sustainable institutional growth and urged Nepal Telecom to prioritize service quality and user confidence. Aryal expressed confidence that the company would continue advancing technology-driven services with customer satisfaction at the core.

Describing public institutions as a bridge between citizens and the government, the minister said Nepal Telecom has an important role in strengthening citizen–state relations. He expressed confidence that the company would continue working in coordination with the government to implement national policies and fulfill its public mandate.

Aryal also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to act as a guardian in strengthening, modernizing, and ensuring the long-term development of Nepal Telecom.
