Kathmandu — Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi signed an additional personal pledge against corruption while taking the oath of office as a member of Nepal’s House of Representatives.
Shahi took the official oath administered by senior-most member Arjun Narsingh KC during the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected lawmakers. Following the formal process, he submitted a separate written pledge to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
In the signed statement, Shahi expressed a firm stance on integrity in public office. “I would rather be destroyed than become corrupt; I am ready to sacrifice my life for the nation,” the pledge reads.
The additional commitment is seen as a symbolic political message highlighting his position on ethical governance and accountability as he begins his parliamentary role. Shahi also serves as the parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. The party currently holds five seats in the House of Representatives.
