Rautahat — A four-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle bearing election campaign stickers of a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate in Rautahat district, police said.
The incident occurred in Ishnath Municipality, where a vehicle with campaign stickers of an RSP candidate struck the child, resulting in her death. According to Rautahat police, the girl was critically injured and died while undergoing treatment.
Police identified the victim as Alfa Khatun, the daughter of Sagir Mohammad, a resident of the same municipality. The vehicle involved, bearing registration number Ba 15 Cha 4244, is associated with RSP constituency No. 2 candidate Sheikh Sagir.
Rautahat Police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishnu Pradip Basyal said the child was hit while she was playing on the road. He added that although the vehicle had the candidate’s campaign stickers, the candidate was not inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police have taken the vehicle into custody and said a search is underway to locate the driver. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, authorities said.
