Federal Parliament Meets Today for Key Bills

Prime Minister and Finance Minister to present major reports and a new development finance bill

Federal Parliament meeting is underway today in Kathmandu, as both houses convene to deliberate on key reports, a new finance bill, and important governance matters.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet at 1:00 PM at Singha Durbar. As per the agenda, Prime Minister Balen Shah is set to present the seventh annual report of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission for the fiscal year 2082. The report is expected to provide insights into resource allocation, fiscal balance, and coordination between different levels of government.

During the same session, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will introduce the “Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2082.” Prior to tabling the bill, he will seek formal approval from the House, in line with parliamentary procedures. The proposed legislation aims to explore new ways of mobilizing development finance beyond traditional funding sources.

The Speaker will also read out a communication from the Office of the President regarding revisions in the order of precedence within the Council of Ministers. This update could carry administrative significance, particularly in shaping official protocol and governance structure.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly is set to convene at 1:15 PM. In that meeting, Prime Minister Balen Shah will present the annual report of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for the fiscal year 2081/82. The report is expected to highlight ongoing anti-corruption efforts, key investigations, and institutional challenges.

The ongoing Federal Parliament meeting is expected to influence upcoming policy discussions, especially in areas of financial management and governance reforms.
