Former CDO Dr. Kamaleshwar Sinha Attacked in Sarlahi, Nepali Congress Alleges RSP Supporters Involved

Former Chief District Officer and Nepali Congress leader Dr. Kamaleshwar Sinha was injured after an attack in Balara Municipality–4 of Sarlahi. The Nepali Congress has alleged involvement of supporters of RSP MP Amaresh Kumar Singh, while police say no formal complaint has been filed.

Sarlahi — Former Chief District Officer (CDO) and Nepali Congress leader Dr. Kamaleshwar Sinha was attacked in Balara Municipality–4 of Sarlahi district on Sunday, according to local party leaders.

Local Nepali Congress leader Naveen Kushwaha said the incident occurred at around 12:10 p.m. on a road located east of Rajesh Singh’s house and north of Sunil Singh’s house in Balara–4.

According to Kushwaha, Dr. Sinha was inside a Scorpio vehicle with his son and grandson when an unidentified group allegedly attacked the vehicle. Dr. Sinha sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Nepali Congress representatives said.

The Nepali Congress has alleged that supporters of newly elected Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Member of Parliament Amaresh Kumar Singh from Sarlahi Constituency–4 were involved in the attack.

Following the incident, the Nepali Congress Sarlahi–4 unit expressed objection and demanded action against those responsible. Police officials, however, said that although the incident has been reported in the media, no formal complaint has been officially filed with authorities so far.

Police said further investigation will be needed to determine the facts of the incident and identify those involved.
