Kathmandu — Police fired warning shots into the air after a dispute broke out at a polling station in Dolakha during Nepal’s House of Representatives election on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at the Malu polling station in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4, where voting began at 7:00 a.m. as part of the nationwide parliamentary election.
According to Dolakha Assistant Chief District Officer Aulakh Bahadur Ale, police fired the shots to bring the situation under control after a dispute erupted during the voting process. Ale said the incident occurred after individuals involved in the dispute assaulted election staff deployed at the polling station, prompting security personnel to act to restore order.
“Warning shots were fired after election staff were assaulted. The situation is now normal,” Ale said. Authorities said the situation at the polling station has been brought under control and voting is continuing as scheduled.
