CPN-UML Submits 16 Proportional Representation Lawmakers List to Nepal Election Commission

The CPN-UML has submitted the names of 16 lawmakers selected under the proportional representation system to the Election Commission of Nepal, with candidates drawn from constitutionally mandated inclusive clusters.

Kathmandu — The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has submitted the names of 16 lawmakers selected under the proportional representation system to the Election Commission of Nepal.

Neeraj Acharya, chief of the party’s central election department, said the list of nominees was officially handed over to the commission on Sunday. The candidates were selected from different constitutionally mandated inclusive clusters in line with Nepal’s proportional representation rules.

Candidates From Indigenous Nationalities and Khas Arya Clusters

From the Indigenous Nationalities (Janajati) cluster, the party recommended Bhumika Subba, Gangadevi Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, and Kulbhakta Shakya.

Under the Khas Arya cluster, the nominees include Padma Aryal, Tukabhadra Hamal, Yashoda Kumari Baral, Guru Prasad Baral, and Pushparaj Kandel.

Nominees From Dalit, Tharu, Madhesi and Muslim Communities

From the Tharu male cluster, the party nominated Kriparam Rana. Under the Dalit women category, the nominees are Bishnumaya BK and Nita Ghatani. From the Madhesi women cluster, the recommended candidates include Ringla Yadav and Yashoda Kumari Yadav, while Chandreshwar Mandal was selected from the Madhesi male cluster.

In addition, Sajida Siddiki has been nominated from the Muslim community.

Election Commission Verification Process

The Election Commission of Nepal will now review the submitted list to ensure it meets the country’s inclusive representation requirements before formally confirming the lawmakers under the proportional representation system.
