Lalitpur — The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML) Statute Convention continued on Saturday at Sunrise Hall in Godawari, Lalitpur. The convention, which began on Friday, entered its second day with scheduled discussions on multiple reports.
On the opening day, Party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the political report. General Secretary Shankar Pokharel tabled the organizational report, Vice-Chair Bishnu Paudel presented the statute amendment proposal, and Central Advisory Council Chair Amrit Kumar Bohora delivered his report.
On Saturday morning, beginning at 8 a.m., reports from the Election Commission, Accounts Commission, and Disciplinary Commission were scheduled to be presented. These reports could not be tabled on Friday due to time constraints.
According to UML Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, group discussions on all reports were set to begin at 10 a.m. Delegates will be divided into 10 groups for the deliberations. Reports will be presented by Keshav Badal, Chair of the Central Disciplinary Commission; Dr. Pushpa Kandel, Chair of the Central Accounts Commission; and Dr. Vijay Subba, Chair of the Central Election Commission.
Next Agenda and Participation
On Sunday, after the group discussions, leaders will present suggestions on the political report. The leadership will then respond, followed by the Central Election Commission initiating the election process.
It remains a UML tradition for the Statute Convention to elect the office bearers and members of the Election Commission. This convention will continue that practice. After the election concludes, the event will wrap up by adopting contemporary proposals.
A total of 2,341 participants are attending the Statute Convention, including 2,026 delegates and 315 participants in the role of organizers.
