CPN-UML Secretariat Meeting Reviews Eight-Point Agenda Ahead of National Assembly Election

The CPN-UML Secretariat meeting is underway in Chyasal, focusing on candidate selection, electoral cooperation, and organizational decisions ahead of Nepal’s National Assembly election.

Kathmandu — The Secretariat meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) is currently underway at the party’s central office in Chyasal, where eight agenda items have been formally presented for discussion.

The first agenda item focuses on selecting candidates for the National Assembly election scheduled for Magh 11. The meeting will also discuss possible electoral cooperation among the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, the Nepal Communist Party, and the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal in relation to the upcoming National Assembly election.

The second agenda item involves the formation of a committee responsible for preparing the party’s election manifesto. According to party secretary Mahesh Basnet, the third agenda includes the formation of an election mobilization committee to manage and coordinate campaign activities.

The meeting will also decide on the division of geographical responsibilities for election-focused work, assigning organizational duties across different regions. Under the fifth agenda item, the Secretariat is expected to make decisions on developing youth-focused election mobilization strategies.

In line with the party’s amended statute, the meeting will also form the Bagmati Province Committee, the Capital Province Committee, and the Contact Special Organization Committee. Additionally, the Secretariat will consider revisions to the party’s internal regulations and approve amendments to the directive of the Policy Research Institute, Basnet said.
