CPN-UML Secretary Padma Aryal Says Party Will Serve as Strong Opposition After Nepal Election

CPN-UML Secretary Padma Aryal says the party will accept election results and act as a strong opposition, supporting good work while holding the government accountable.

Kathmandu — CPN-UML Secretary Padma Aryal said the party will accept the election results and move forward as a strong and responsible opposition.

Speaking to journalists after receiving her proportional representation certificate for the House of Representatives at a program organized by the Election Commission on Thursday, Aryal said the party respects the public mandate and is preparing to play an effective role in parliament.

She said the CPN-UML will support the Rastriya Swatantra Party, which is set to lead the next government, in carrying out positive work. She also said the party will provide oversight and hold the government accountable where necessary.

Aryal said the election has contributed to political stability and stressed that the government should focus on job creation, increasing production, women’s empowerment, and ensuring respect for senior citizens.

She said political instability has been a major obstacle to development and prosperity, adding that the new mandate should be taken as an opportunity. With the new political force receiving nearly a two-thirds public mandate, she said public expectations from the government are higher.

Aryal said the CPN-UML will work from the opposition to safeguard the public mandate and ensure the government remains on the right track. She said the party will support positive work and oppose wrong decisions.

She added that the party will review its election performance and work to address its shortcomings.
