Kathmandu — The CPN-UML has entrusted Vice Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ with the responsibility of leading the party’s election campaign. A meeting of the party’s Secretariat held on Tuesday at the central office decided to appoint Thapa, who is a proportional representation candidate, as coordinator of the Election Mobilization Committee.
He will oversee the party’s overall election operations and campaign coordination. Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta said Bishnu Prasad Rimal has been appointed secretary of the Election Mobilization Committee.
According to the decision, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Rajan Bhattarai, Himmat Karki, Ramesh Badal, Min Bahadur Shahi, and Bhishma Adhikari have been included as members of the committee.
A party leader said the Secretariat also held a principled discussion on appointing leaders who are not contesting direct elections to the Election Mobilization Committee in order to ensure effective and focused campaign management.
