Congress Says Country Needs Stabilising Force, Gagan Thapa Says

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said the country requires a stabilising political force, asserting that the Congress is ready to manage current challenges and reform governance.

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said the country currently needs a political force capable of stabilising the situation, asserting that the Congress is prepared to take on that role.

Speaking at a programme held in Dhanusha on friday, Thapa said the nation requires leadership focused on correcting and reforming the system rather than encouraging destruction or political provocation.

“The country today needs a force that can correct and improve the system,” Thapa said. “The Congress will stabilise the country and reform governance. The party itself has changed, and it will work to change the condition of the nation.”

He also urged party cadres not to make negative remarks about other candidates or political parties. “We move forward with positive energy. We are a party that unites the country,” Thapa said. “We are a party that stabilises the nation. We are not a party of destruction, nor one that spreads provocation. The Congress represents a stabilising force.”

Reiterating his position, Thapa said the country needs a responsible political force capable of managing challenges while advancing reform. “This time, the Congress will do two things simultaneously — stabilise the country and reform the system,” he said.

Addressing internal party matters, Thapa said there are no factions within the Nepali Congress. “We have come forward with different thinking and a new approach. There are no factions in the party,” he said, adding that the process for selecting candidates will be changed in the future.
