A Buddha Air aircraft skidded off the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in Jhapa on Friday night, officials said. The aircraft, which was operating a flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, was carrying 51 passengers when the incident occurred at around 9:10 pm. Authorities said the plane slid approximately 200 meters beyond the runway during landing.
Jhapa Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal said there was no fire following the incident. He confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
Security personnel and airport officials responded immediately after the aircraft exited the runway. An initial assessment has been conducted, and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
