Kathmandu — The Accountability Monitoring Committee has urged the government to immediately make public the report of the investigation commission formed to examine the incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24.
The committee said the investigation report should be released so that victims’ communities, civil society, media organizations, and the general public can obtain information about the incidents.
Committee coordinator Raju Prasad Chapagain issued a press statement on Tuesday calling on the government to publish the commission’s report without delay. He stated that making the investigation report public is the responsibility of the government.
In the statement, the committee said the decision to disclose the report should not be treated as a matter of government discretion. It emphasized that citizens have a constitutional right to access information about matters of public concern and that the investigation report should therefore be made public as soon as possible.
The committee said that publishing the report would help provide clarity about the incidents and support transparency on issues of public interest.
