Bagmati Assembly Meets After Seven-Month Gap

Winter session of Bagmati Assembly begins after long delay, with pending issues on the agenda

The Bagmati Provincial Assembly meeting is set to resume after a seven-month gap, with the winter session scheduled for 4 PM on Chaitra 24.

The long-awaited Bagmati Provincial Assembly meeting marks the continuation of legislative activities that had remained on hold since late last year. Officials confirmed that the session has been formally called following the completion of all constitutional procedures.

According to the Office of the Province Chief, Deepak Prasad Devkota issued the call for the assembly session in line with constitutional requirements. The announcement was made through his secretariat, indicating that preparations for the meeting have been finalized.

The previous session of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly was held on Bhadra 17 and 18 before being prorogued on Mangsir 6. Since then, there had been no formal sitting, raising concerns over delays in legislative discussions and policy decisions within the province.

With the Bagmati Provincial Assembly meeting now scheduled, lawmakers are expected to address pending agendas, including legislative proposals and governance matters that have accumulated during the prolonged break.

The resumption of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly meeting is likely to play a key role in advancing provincial governance, as stakeholders look ahead to timely discussions and decisions in the coming weeks.
