Gagan Thapa Says Unity Impossible Without Protection of Rights

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa says unity among citizens is not possible without protecting rights, rejecting provocative politics.

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said he does not believe in provocative politics, stressing that unity among citizens is not possible without the protection of rights.

In a video message released ahead of his visit to Sarlahi–4, Thapa said he was traveling to Madhesh with the aim of connecting the country and narrowing the gap between the region and the capital.

“I am going to Madhesh because I want to connect the country,” Thapa said. “I want to take the stories shaped in Kathmandu to Madhesh, and I want to understand the stories, hardships, and pain of Madhesh and bring them back to Kathmandu.”

Thapa said he believes national dignity can only be upheld when the dignity of all citizens is respected. However, he emphasized that unity cannot be built through emotional provocation alone.

“I do not believe in provocative politics,” he said, “but I also do not believe unity among people is possible without ensuring rights.” Gagan Thapa is contesting the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 from Sarlahi–4.
