Newly elected National Assembly committee chairs were sworn in on Wednesday at Singha Durbar, formally taking charge of key subject committees under Nepal’s Federal Parliament.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted at the Accounts Committee hall in Singha Durbar. National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal administered the oath of office and secrecy in accordance with Rule 217A (2) of the National Assembly Regulations, 2018.
The event marked the official start of responsibilities for the National Assembly committee chairs, who will now oversee key legislative and policy functions. The ceremony was attended by National Assembly officials, lawmakers, and secretariat staff.
National Assembly Committee Chairs Elected Unopposed
The National Assembly committee chairs were elected unopposed during elections held on Tuesday. Krishna Prasad Paudel was selected as Chair of the Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee, while Krishna Bahadur Rokaya will lead the Legislative Management Committee.
Similarly, Pooja Chaudhary has been appointed Chair of the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee, and Jayanti Devi Rai will head the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee.
With the oath-taking completed, the National Assembly committee chairs are now expected to actively engage in legislative review, policy discussions, and oversight of government activities in the coming days.
